This article presents a real-world test report of RAKsmart’s Global BGP line in its Frankfurt, Germany datacenter. It covers network quality, peak-hour performance, streaming compatibility, and server performance, helping users who need overseas infrastructure or improved connectivity to mainland China understand the actual performance of this route.
RAKsmart Official Website: www.raksmart.com1. Introduction to RAKsmart Germany Datacenter
RAKsmart is a US-registered IDC provider supporting Alipay, PayPal, credit cards, and cryptocurrencies. No real-name verification is required. The company operates multiple global datacenters. Its Germany node is located in Frankfurt and uses a self-built PEG TECH network, offering an “International BGP / Global BGP” routing option designed to balance global connectivity quality.2. Test Server Configuration
The tested machine is a bare metal server located in RAKsmart Frankfurt datacenter with the following configuration:- CPU: Dual Intel Xeon E5-2699v4 (56 cores total, 2.2GHz base, up to 3.6GHz turbo)
- BBR acceleration enabled
- Storage I/O performance: FIO benchmark approx. 397MB/s
- IPv6 not supported
3. Domestic Network Performance (China Three Carriers)
Bandwidth test: During off-peak hours, upload and download tests from multiple regions in China showed stable performance overall. Evening peak download performance (tested via Chrome direct download from server-hosted file):- Guangzhou Unicom: Stable and smooth download experience
- Guangdong Jiangmen Mobile: Moderate speed
- Sichuan Meishan Unicom: Average performance
- Hubei Xiangyang Telecom: Slight fluctuations but generally acceptable
4. International & Asia Region Speed Tests
Speed tests via Speedtest.net across multiple European, Asian, and US nodes show balanced upload and download performance. Asian nodes perform slightly better, making this server suitable for East Asia and Southeast Asia connectivity. iPerf3 tests also show stable throughput between international nodes, with particularly strong performance in European routes.5. Routing & Latency Analysis (China Three Networks)
Latency testing across 119 nodes in China shows generally stable and acceptable results with minimal fluctuation.- Telecom outbound: Routed via San Jose (US) then Telia to Europe, slightly indirect
- Unicom & Mobile outbound: Direct routing to Frankfurt via Telia, better optimized paths
- Telecom return: Direct return from Frankfurt POP node, good performance
- Unicom return: Via Telia to Germany Unicom node, stable speed
- Mobile return: Partial direct routing, partial US detour, inconsistent performance
