1. Introduction to BandwagonHost New York CN2 GIA VPS
BandwagonHost has continuously expanded its high-end line products in recent years. The US New York USNY_8 data center with CN2 GIA is a representative east coast optimized node. This line belongs to the E-Commerce VPS series, alongside Los Angeles DC6 and DC9 data centers, and supports CN2 GIA, CMIN2, and AS9929 high-quality network routes. Notably, it is one of the few nodes in the US East Coast offering direct Telecom CN2 GIA connectivity, making it particularly friendly for domestic users handling cross-border video business.
Existing Los Angeles CN2 GIA VPS users can directly switch to “New York (Coresite NY1 CN2GIA-E, CMIN2, CUP) [USNY_8]” in the BandwagonHost KiwiVM dashboard, offering high flexibility. This article uses a base plan with 2 CPU cores, 1GB RAM, 20GB SSD, 2.5Gbps bandwidth, 1 IPv4, priced at $49.99/quarter (remember to use promo code BWHCGLUKKB) (purchase link) to perform a full performance and network test.
2. Hardware Performance Test
The New York CN2 GIA VPS uses an Intel Xeon processor at 2.60GHz, 1GB RAM with 544MB swap. Disk read/write speed averages 828MB/s, showing stable performance. Although still on the Intel platform, BandwagonHost plans to gradually upgrade to AMD processors, promising higher future performance. The virtualization is KVM-based, and the system comes with BBR-accelerated kernel, significantly optimizing network transmission.
3. Network Performance and Latency Analysis
Tests show that the BandwagonHost New York CN2 GIA VPS can reach download speeds of up to 1.3Gbps to China, and exceed 4Gbps to other Asian nodes. Upload speeds on all three networks remain above 400Mbps. Such uplink performance is rare for cross-border businesses.
Ping tests indicate an average latency to Mainland China of around 212ms, better than most East Coast data centers. Compared to West Coast CN2 GIA nodes, latency is slightly higher (around 160ms), but considering geographical distance, this is excellent performance.
4. Network Route Analysis
- Telecom direction: inbound and outbound both follow 59.43 CN2 GIA route segments, representing a complete CN2 GIA round trip.
- Unicom direction: outbound uses AS9929 international premium network, returning via Telecom CN2 GIA.
- Mobile direction: inbound and outbound both use AS58807 CMIN2 international route.
Overall, all three networks are optimized routes, with Telecom and Mobile achieving bi-directional direct connect, forming a rare “fully optimized” solution in the US East Coast.
5. Streaming and IP Quality
Tests show that the New York CN2 GIA VPS uses a US native data center IP, capable of unlocking US-region TikTok, Netflix, Disney+, and other mainstream streaming platforms.
According to ipinfo.io, the IP type is “hosting,” not residential, but with high purity. Port 25 is open, making it suitable for email communication and website hosting.
While such IPs are not suitable as direct home network exits, they are ideal for building relay nodes or proxy servers.
6. Video Playback and Website Hosting Experience
Under mobile network conditions, YouTube playback speeds reach 90k+, 4K videos play smoothly without stuttering. Telecom and Unicom users also experience stable video streaming thanks to CN2 and AS9929 routes.
After installing the Baota panel, remaining memory is about 426MB and SSD remaining space is 15GB, suitable for personal websites, small e-commerce, or blogs. With all three networks direct-connected and optimized, access experience surpasses ordinary US East VPS.
7. Summary
